Prayer Before Exams
A prayer for clarity, calm, and confidence before taking an exam or test
The Prayer Before Exams is a short plea for clear thinking, calm nerves and the humility to do your best. It reminds you that your worth is not decided by a grade. Students have prayed like this for centuries, often to St. Thomas Aquinas or St. Joseph of Cupertino. It takes under a minute and can be said in the hall before you turn the paper over. Pair it with proper rest and preparation. Add a quick breath prayer when you feel panic rising, such as Come, Holy Spirit, and remember that you have prepared. Whatever the result, you are loved, and tomorrow is a new day.

Lord God of all knowledge and wisdom, I come to You as I prepare for this examination. You are the source of all truth and understanding. Calm my nerves and quiet my anxious thoughts.
Grant me clarity of mind to recall what I have studied. Give me focus to read each question carefully and wisdom to express my answers well. Help me to do my very best, and to leave the results in Your hands.
St. Thomas Aquinas, patron of students, pray for me. Help me to approach this exam not with fear but with confidence in the abilities God has given me.
Lord, whatever the outcome, help me to remember that my worth is not measured by a grade but by Your love for me. I offer this effort to You.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
