Prayer for Loneliness

Lord, I am lonely.

Not just alone — lonely. There is a difference. I may be surrounded by people and still feel unseen. I may be far from home and feel the weight of that distance every single day. I may long for someone who truly knows me and find that person still missing.

I will not pretend this is not hard. It is very hard.

But Lord, You who chose to be born into a small, overlooked town in a forgotten corner of the empire — You know what it is to be unseen. You who spent thirty years in hiddenness before Your public life — You understand the long, quiet seasons of invisibility. And You who cried out from the cross 'My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?' — You know the deepest loneliness of all.

(Pause here and bring your specific loneliness to God)

Be with me in this. Not with platitudes, but with presence. Remind me that I am known — known by name, known in full, loved without condition by You.

And where it is possible, Lord, send me the gift of community — one true friend, one place of belonging, one person who sees me. And let me, in the meantime, be that presence for someone else who is lonely too.
