Prayer for New Beginnings
A prayer for new chapters — a new city, job, relationship, or season of life
The Prayer for New Beginnings is for a new chapter: a new city, job, relationship or season of life. It asks God to calm the fear of the unknown and to go before you. It echoes Abraham's call to set out for a land he did not know. A new beginning always involves a goodbye, so this prayer makes room for both. Move slowly. Take a few minutes at the end of the first day in your new place to give thanks, and write down one thing you hope God will do. Revisit the page in a month.

Lord of all beginnings, I stand at the edge of something new.
A new chapter is opening — a new place, a new role, a new season of life. Part of me is excited. Part of me is afraid. All of me is aware of how uncertain the road ahead seems.
I ask for Your presence in this beginning. You who said 'I am the Way' — be the way I walk. You who said 'I am the Truth' — be the lens through which I see this new chapter. You who said 'I am the Life' — let this new season be filled with Your life, not just my own striving.
(Pause here to mention this new beginning specifically)
Let me not cling to what is behind when You are calling me forward. And let me not rush ahead so fast that I miss the grace hidden in the transition itself. This in-between place — the leaving and the not-yet-arriving — is holy ground too.
Go before me, Lord. Prepare the way. I follow.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
