Prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory
Traditional prayers for the souls in Purgatory, a corporal work of mercy and act of charity toward those who are being purified before entering heaven.
The Prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory prays for the dead who are being purified before entering heaven. The Church calls it a corporal work of mercy and an act of charity towards those who cannot pray for themselves. It is traditional in November, the month of the dead, and on All Souls Day, but can be offered any day. Naming your own family adds love to the prayer. It is an act of love that costs nothing and gives much. You may also offer your sufferings, Communion and Rosary for the dead. One day others will pray for you.

De Profundis (Psalm 130):
Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication.
If You, O Lord, mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?
But with You is forgiveness, that You may be revered.
I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His word.
More than sentinels wait for the dawn, let Israel wait for the Lord.
For with the Lord is kindness, and with Him is plenteous redemption;
And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Prayer for the Holy Souls:
Merciful God and Father of all, in Your boundless compassion You desire that all souls be saved and come to the knowledge of truth. I pray for all the souls in Purgatory, especially those who have no one to pray for them.
By the merits of the Passion of Jesus Christ, by the intercession of Mary, Queen of Purgatory, and of all the Saints, grant them pardon and remission of all their sins, and the grace to enter eternal life.
May they see Your face, praise Your name, and be united to You forever in the joy of heaven. Amen.
