Prayer for Vocations
Prayer for an increase in priestly and religious vocations, for young people discerning their calling, and for the grace to respond generously to God's call.
The Prayer for Vocations asks God to increase priestly and religious vocations, to guide young people who are discerning and to give them the grace to answer generously. Jesus said, The harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few, and the Church takes him at his word. The prayer also covers marriage and every state of life. Praying it regularly keeps your parish hopeful. Pray also for your own vocation, whatever it is. Many priests and sisters say they first felt a call because someone prayed for them. Invite your family to pray it at dinner, and ask your parish to include vocations in the Prayers of the Faithful each week.

Prayer for Priestly and Religious Vocations:
Lord Jesus Christ, You said to Your disciples: 'The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.'
We lift up this prayer to You now. The harvest is still plentiful, Lord. So many souls are hungry for You — for truth, for meaning, for the Sacraments that only Your priests can offer. But the laborers are few.
Raise up, O Lord, from among our families and communities, holy priests and deacons who will serve Your people with dedication and joy. Raise up men and women who will give their lives entirely to You in religious life — who will pray without ceasing, who will witness to the kingdom of heaven, who will live the Gospel radically.
For young people discerning their calling:
Lord, speak clearly to every young person in whom You have planted a vocation. Silence the noise of the world that drowns out Your voice. Give them courage to respond, generous families who support them, and good spiritual directors to guide them.
For all the baptized in their vocation:
Help each of us to live our own calling — in marriage, in priesthood, in religious life, or in consecrated singleness — with faithfulness and generosity. May we never settle for less than the fullness You call us to.
Lord of the harvest, send laborers. Amen.
