Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Powerful prayer of protection against the snares of the devil

The Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel is a short plea for protection: Defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. Pope Leo XIII promoted it in 1884, and for decades it was said after Low Mass. It is easy to memorise and can be prayed at a moment of fear, temptation or danger. Many police, soldiers and parents keep it close. It is only a few lines long, which is why people say it before they sleep, before they drive, or when a temptation arrives. Teach it to your children.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
