Thanksgiving After Communion
A prayer of thanksgiving and adoration after receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
The Thanksgiving After Communion is a prayer of gratitude and adoration said after receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. In those quiet minutes Christ is truly present within you, and the Church has long encouraged a pause for silence and thanks. The prayer helps you use that time well, instead of rushing to the door. It lets you offer your own words, remember your family and ask for the grace to carry Christ into the week. Children can learn a simple line, such as Thank you, Jesus, for coming to me today, to say before they leave the pew.

Lord Jesus Christ, I thank You for the gift of Yourself in the Holy Eucharist. You have come to me — to me, a sinner — and I am not worthy to receive You. Yet You have entered my heart, and I rejoice in Your presence.
I adore You, my God and my All. I love You above all things. I believe in You, I hope in You, and I surrender myself completely to You. May this holy communion be for me a pledge of eternal life, a healing of my soul, and a strength for my journey.
I thank You for Your Body and Blood, which nourish my soul. I thank You for Your grace, which transforms me. I thank You for Your love, which never fails. May I carry You with me throughout this day — in my thoughts, my words, and my actions.
Lord, remain with me, for the day is far spent and I need Your light, Your strength, and Your peace. Let nothing separate me from Your love. Let my life be a living thanksgiving for the gift of the Eucharist. Amen.
