Transfiguration Prayer
Prayer for the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord (August 6). On Mount Tabor, Christ's divinity shone through His humanity — a glimpse of the glory that awaits the redeemed.
The Transfiguration Prayer is for the feast of August 6, when Christ's face shone on Mount Tabor in front of Peter, James and John. It asks for a glimpse of the glory that awaits the redeemed and for the strength to come down from the mountain into ordinary life. The scene prepared the disciples for the Passion, and the prayer prepares you for your own hard days. Pray it when you need to remember who Jesus is. Many people pray it before a trial, because the vision was a gift for the days ahead.

Prayer for the Transfiguration:
Lord Jesus Christ, on the holy mountain of Tabor You were transfigured before Peter, James, and John. Your face shone like the sun and Your garments became white as light. Moses and Elijah appeared with You, speaking of the Exodus You were about to accomplish in Jerusalem. And the Father's voice came from the bright cloud: 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.'
The disciples fell on their faces in awe. But You came and touched them, saying: 'Rise, and do not be afraid.' And when they looked up, they saw only Jesus.
Lord, in our lives there are moments of Tabor — when You give us a glimpse of Your glory and we know, beyond all doubt, that You are real and that You love us. Help us to treasure these moments, to carry them with us through the valleys and the dark nights that follow.
You showed Your disciples the glory that awaited You after the Passion, so they would not be scandalized by the Cross. Show us too, Lord, that the suffering of this present time is not worth comparing to the glory that is to be revealed in us.
May we, with unveiled faces, behold the glory of the Lord and be transformed into the same image, from glory to glory, by the Spirit of the Lord. Amen.
