Novena for Employment – 9 Days of Prayer

For those seeking a job, preparing for interviews, or discerning their career path

The Novena for Employment is a prayer for people looking for work, preparing for interviews or discerning a career. It asks for guidance, open doors and patience, and it remembers that work is part of our dignity. Because unemployment is hard on the whole family, the novena prays for steady provision and peace. It has no feast date, so you can start at once. It recognises that waiting for a call is its own kind of suffering, and that a person is more than a CV. Combine it with practical work: update your resume, contact old colleagues, rest well, and trust God to lead.

Novena for Employment – prayer for all nine days

Intention: For Employment, Career Guidance, and Provision Through Work

Heavenly Father, You have given each of us unique gifts and talents. You call us to use them in service of others and for Your glory. I come before You today seeking Your help in finding meaningful work.

Lord God, You told us that the laborer is worthy of his wages, and You have given us the dignity of work as a share in Your creation. I ask You now to open doors of employment for me.

Guide me to the work You have prepared for me. Grant me wisdom in my search, confidence in my interviews, and patience in my waiting. Remove all discouragement and anxiety from my heart, and replace them with trust in Your perfect timing.

St. Joseph, patron of workers, you labored faithfully to provide for the Holy Family. Intercede for me that I may find honest and dignified work. St. Cajetan, patron of job seekers, pray that God may provide for all my needs.

(Pause here to mention your intentions)

Lord, I trust that You know my needs before I ask. Whether the answer comes quickly or slowly, help me to remain faithful and hopeful. Provide for me and my family, and let the work I find give glory to Your name.

Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory Be...

St. Joseph the Worker, pray for us.

Pray this prayer once a day for nine days in a row.

Catholic Devotional Prayer · Inspired by the example of St. Joseph the Worker and St. Cajetan, patron of job seekers
