Divine Mercy Novena – 9 Days of Prayer
Prayed for nine days leading up to Divine Mercy Sunday
The Divine Mercy Novena is a nine-day preparation for Divine Mercy Sunday, the Sunday after Easter, built around the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the revelations recorded in the Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska. Each day lifts a different group of souls to the mercy of Christ, from all mankind to those who have drifted from the faith. If guilt, worry or distance from God has been weighing on you, these nine short prayers give your trust a daily place to rest. Many people pray it every Easter season, and it works just as well in an ordinary week.
A novena is nine consecutive days of prayer. You can begin this novena on any day.

Day 1 – For All Mankind
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.
Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Day 2 – For the Souls of Priests and Religious
Today bring to Me the souls of priests and religious, and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy.
Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase Your grace in men and women consecrated to Your service, that they may perform worthy works of mercy; and that all who see them may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in heaven.
Day 3 – For All Devout and Faithful Souls
Today bring to Me all devout and faithful souls, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy.
Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this grace of You by that most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

Frequently asked questions
When should I start the Divine Mercy Novena?
Traditionally it begins on Good Friday so that the ninth day lands on the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday, which falls on the Sunday after Easter. You can also pray it at any other time of the year when you need mercy.
How do I pray the Divine Mercy Novena?
Each day, pray the prayer for that day's intention, then say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy using ordinary rosary beads. Set aside about fifteen minutes, ideally at three in the afternoon, the hour Christ is remembered as dying.
Who is the Divine Mercy Novena for?
It is for anyone who needs mercy or wants to pray for others to receive it: sinners, the sick, the doubting and the dying. It is also a fitting prayer for those who feel unworthy of God's attention.
