Holy Spirit Novena – 9 Days of Prayer
The original novena - as prayed by the Apostles
The Holy Spirit Novena is the oldest of all novenas. After the Ascension, the Apostles gathered in the Upper Room with Mary and waited nine days in prayer, as Acts 1:14 describes, until the Spirit came at Pentecost. This novena invites you to wait the same way, asking for the gifts of wisdom, understanding, counsel and courage. It is ideal when you face a decision, a calling or any task that is bigger than you. Pentecost is a moveable feast fifty days after Easter. Start small.
A novena is nine consecutive days of prayer. You can begin this novena on any day.

Intention: For the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.
Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth. O God, who did instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant that, by the gift of the same Spirit, we may be always truly wise, and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. O Holy Spirit, Soul of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten, guide, strengthen, and console me. Tell me what I ought to do and command me to do it. I promise to be submissive in everything that You ask of me, and to accept all that You allow to happen to me. Just show me what is Your will. Amen.
