St. Anthony of Padua Novena – 9 Days of Prayer

For lost items, missing persons, and finding one's way

St. Anthony of Padua is the saint people reach for when something has gone missing, from house keys to a peaceful mind. A Franciscan preacher of rare gifts, he was canonised within a year of his death, and the Church has never stopped trusting his intercession. This novena gives you nine days to ask him for what is lost, whether an object, a person or your way. His feast on June 13 makes the novena a fine early-summer devotion. Along the way you will find prayers that ask for more than a misplaced wallet: a lost sense of purpose, a lost friendship, a lost faith.

St. Anthony of Padua Novena – prayer for all nine days

Intention: For the Intercession of St. Anthony

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers.

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore of you to obtain for me my request. The answer to my prayer may require a miracle; even so, you are the Saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen.
