Novena to St. Dominic – prayer for all nine days

Intention: For Preachers, Truth-Tellers, and Those Who Fight Heresy

Lord Jesus, You raised up Saint Dominic to preach Your truth and to give the world the holy Rosary. Through his intercession, strengthen our faith, increase our love for prayer, and give us zeal for the salvation of souls. Amen.

O glorious Saint Dominic, founder of the Order of Preachers! You were born in answer to your mother's prayers, and from your earliest years you burned with love for God and compassion for the poor. When you saw the spiritual poverty of those led astray by heresy, you gave up everything to preach the truth.

You spent your nights in prayer and your days in preaching. You never owned anything, begged your daily bread, and walked barefoot across Europe to save souls. It is said that you wept constantly for sinners, and that you could often be found prostrated in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

You also gave the Church one of her greatest treasures — the holy Rosary — which Our Lady gave you as a weapon against heresy and a path to contemplating the mysteries of salvation.

Holy Dominic, intercede for me now. Obtain for me the grace I seek. (Mention your intention here.)

Help me to love truth above comfort, to be zealous for the salvation of souls, and to pray the Rosary with the faith and love you had for this holy prayer. Amen.

Lord God, You allowed Saint Dominic to kindle a great fire of love and truth in Your Church. Through his intercession, raise up in our day preachers and teachers who will proclaim Your truth with charity and win souls for Your kingdom. Amen.

Pray this prayer once a day for nine days in a row.
