Our Lady of Czestochowa Novena – prayer for all nine days

Intention: For Poland and All Nations Under Persecution, for the Protection of the Church, and for the Grace to Persevere

Holy Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa, Black Madonna of Jasna Gora — you whose icon has gazed over a people through centuries of suffering, war, partition, and oppression, and who has never abandoned them. We come to you as a people who also need a mother who does not flinch in the face of darkness. Hear our novena. Amen.

Our Lady of Czestochowa,
Black Madonna of the bright mountain —
your face bears the marks of the sword.
You have known violence. You have known sorrow.
You did not flee.

For six centuries you have gazed over a people
who were conquered, divided, and erased from maps —
and yet who remained.
Because of the faith. Because of you.

Mary, what is it that you hold?
A child — yes. But also a nation.
Also a church. Also every person
who has ever knelt at Jasna Gora
and laid their impossible burden before you
and risen somehow lighter.

We come to you with our own burdens.
Some of us carry wounds as visible as yours.
Some carry wounds no one can see.
All of us need a mother who understands both.

Our Lady of Czestochowa, pray for us.
Pray for those who are persecuted for their faith.
Pray for those who are trying to hold their families together.
Pray for those who feel like a people erased from the map —
invisible, forgotten, undefended.

Tell them what you have always told Poland:
Do not be afraid.
God has not abandoned you.
The morning will come.

Amen.
Hail Mary... Our Father... Glory Be...
