St. Padre Pio Novena – 9 Days of Prayer
For strength in suffering, healing, and the grace to unite our pain with the Cross of Christ
St. Padre Pio was a Capuchin priest known for his hours in the confessional and for bearing the stigmata. He is invoked as a patron for those who suffer. This novena asks for strength in pain, healing and the grace to unite your suffering with Christ's Cross. His feast is September 23. He lived with pain for decades and still counselled others with humour and warmth. The novena is a way of asking him to sit with you in suffering, and to teach you the habit of offering it to Christ.
A novena is nine consecutive days of prayer. Begin nine days before the feast (September 23) and finish on its eve. You can pray this novena at any time of year.

Intention: For Strength and Grace in Times of Suffering
Beloved St. Padre Pio, you who bore the wounds of Christ in your own body for fifty years, and who offered your suffering for the conversion of sinners, look upon me with compassion in my present need.
Dear St. Padre Pio, you who were chosen by God to share in the Passion of His Son, teach me to embrace my sufferings with faith and love. You endured pain, misunderstanding, and persecution, yet you never lost your joy or your trust in God's plan.
You said: "Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer." Help me to live by these words.
(Pause here to mention your intentions)
St. Padre Pio, powerful intercessor, I ask you to present my needs before the throne of God. Obtain for me the strength to carry my cross, the patience to endure my trials, and the faith to trust that God brings good out of all suffering.
Help me to say with you: "Have courage, for the Lord is always with us. In all things, may God's holy will be done."
