St. Peregrine Novena – 9 Days of Prayer
Seeking healing and strength through the intercession of St. Peregrine, who was miraculously cured of cancer
St. Peregrine Laziosi was a medieval Servite friar who, according to tradition, was healed of a cancerous leg after a night of prayer before an operation. Catholics have invoked him ever since as the patron of cancer patients. This novena asks for strength, healing and peace for those facing serious illness and for their families. His feast is May 4. His story encourages those who must wait through tests and treatment: he was a former rebel who became gentle and joyful. Families often pray the novena together at the hospital or at home beside the patient.
A novena is nine consecutive days of prayer. Begin nine days before the feast (May 4) and finish on its eve. You can pray this novena at any time of year.

Intention: For Healing Through the Intercession of St. Peregrine
O God, who gave St. Peregrine an angel for his companion, the Mother of God for his teacher, and Jesus as the physician of his malady, grant through his merits that we may on earth intensely love our Blessed Mother, and in heaven bless You for all eternity.
O great St. Peregrine, you have been called the Mighty, the Wonder-Worker, because of the many miracles you obtained from God for those who turned to you in their need. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and you had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with a vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
(Pause here to mention your intentions)
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.
St. Peregrine, pray for us and for all who invoke your aid. Amen.
